Marjory Stoneman Douglas High
School opened in the city of Parkland, Florida in 1990.
The
school is named in honor of the champion of the Everglades and
author of River of Grass, Marjory Stoneman Douglas. The school has
distinguished itself for its consistently high levels of academic,
athletic and artistic achievement. In 2008, Newsweek Magazine
ranked Douglas 140th out of the top 1,300 high schools in the nation.
Douglas is also one of the largest high schools in Broward County with
a current enrollment of 3,108.
